Breathwork is the simple act of becoming aware of your breathing and coordinating it in a way to result in a desired outcome.
Meditation is the act of directing one’s awareness internally to deepen the connection to self. Often in conjunction with directed thought, prayer or mantra.
Both acts are intimately connected to each other and the effects are amplified when practiced together.

These techniques differ in the structure around the cadence, pace and pauses in the breathing cycles. All techniques share their roots in simple breath awareness. Which means to become aware of yourself breathing and the power it holds when combined with intention.
At Nordic Recovery we specialize in the Wim Hof Method style of breathwork and meditation. We will often hold group classes catered to this method and others.

It can be a daily practice, weekly or monthly. Whatever calls to you is the path you should take. As with anything more you do it the greater the benefits you will receive. Begin with once a week and see if you can build your way up to a 10–20-minute daily practice.

As long as you are able to breathe independently some form of breathwork is available for you to do safely. The more vulnerable your health is presently then the less intense breathwork you should do. Remember to never do breathwork near water, standing up or while operating a motor vehicle. If you are pregnant or have chronic health condition, please consult your primary physician before participating in any breathwork classes.
